5 things about computers that make me want to rage
- Browsers: Why do we have to have so many freaking browsers? I do not like thinking about browser compatibility and if everyone would just use Chrome or Firefox I would be able to think of cooler things like archiving photos.
- VR: Why does the newsletter not want to display properly on Microsoft Outlook… besides the obvious.
- CSS: I don’t really want to learn about it and become good at it. It’s pure laziness and unwillingness to grow with the expanding world wide web
- Internet: Why does my computer say that I have four bars when it won’t actually load any of the events plugin. Liar.
- I spent a whole morning in a workshop that wasn’t what I thought it was going to be… which maybe has more to do with people than computers.
- Autosave: not ‘on’ by default. Are they mocking me? Oops… that’s six.
One time only: 3 things about other stuff that makes me want to rage…
- when people call me cute names and then hug me when I am in the middle of raging (really takes the wind out of my sails).
- knowing there is really nice weather outside only because all I can see is the glare off of the greenhouse, which makes my eye hurt.
- People who answer tech-support phones who can’t understand my (uninformed) questions and so they keep repeating the same thing to me that doesn’t make any sense to me. That made no sense. I’m going back to data entry.
Thanks for indulging me. Feel free to add to the list if it makes you feel better. That’s what village life is about. Sharing.
With love,
Lisa
PS The Natural Building Colloquium starts today. Look for more about that tomorrow when I’m less rageful.

i enjoy a good rage.
i especially can empathize with computer rages 1, 2, & 4 and other rages…1 is SO TRUE! ack! and 3 is undoubtedly annoying!
sorry that you are having an irritating day.
here’s hoping that tomorrow is MUCH better! xo
Thank you. It’s notes like this that help me to remember that there are other nerds out there who have my back! And curiously… without a computer, I wouldn’t know it. Sigh.
nerds unite! ^_^
curiously enough…i’m in the planning stages of moving to BC to have a trial period at the ecovillage. (with my husband and two kids) if all works out, we hope to be there late summer/early fall. perhaps we can nerd out in real life. ^_^
Awesome.
I am, however, much more awkward in real life.
I am very familiar with a variety of newsletter programs and I believe Vertical Response to be one of the most user UN friendly. Have you tried Constant Contact? They give a very reasonable non-profit discount.
Heeeey Lisa! I LOVED your rant and pictures and how you bring the everyday-ness of OUR to life with your great pics and wonderful writing, You ROCK!
I propose that we are indeed all human and therefore all have (or want to have, or wish we could have) safely boundaried RRRs (Rage Release Rants) as needed. I propose we get a good old punching bag and some gloves; put it somewhere we can yell and scream and holler without scaring the chickens into egglessness, Bossy into Ninja mode or any two-legged ones within ear shot ducking for cover (including those brave souls who volunteer to be our witness-upon-request – an essential element for successful RRRs).
OR We could hold Laughter Yoga sessions at high noon on vision hill every day instead and howl our stressors away together. See ya ‘all June 15 XOXOO
