It’s More Than a Tasting

I would like to start this blog off with a quote that resonates deep inside. One that is continually leading me forward and inspiring me to make the most of this years Wine & Culinary.

Wendell Berry says, ” Eating with the fullest pleasure-pleasure, that is, that does not depend on ignorance- is perhaps the profoundest enactment of our connection with the world. IN this pleasure we experience and celebrate our dependence and our gratitude, for we are living from mystery, from creatures we did not make and powers we cannot comprehend”.


I always made an effort during my lunch hour at my old job, to preoccupy my mind with something exciting, inspiring, and educational – reading, listening, watching anything I could lay my little paws on. My main go-to topic… food. One of my favorite information outlets….Deconstructing Dinner, a wicked podcast produced out of Kootenay Co-op Radio in Nelson, BC. It was with passion, that Jon Steinman recite those words in his “A Farewell… For Now!” episode, that simultaneously sent a wave of awareness from my head to my toes.  A shift, I knew was becoming increasingly responsible for many of my decisions surrounding food. One that, I knew, I eventually was going to be required to act on.   With that being said….here is my chance.

I am really stoked about this years Wine & Culinary festival because I can see all around me an ever evolving and growing awareness to the food we grow, harvest, buy, and eat.  Being part of this amazing event is a reassurance that the surge of awareness I felt, when listening to Deconstructing Dinner, is in fact where my passion lies.  And it is my pleasure and hope that helping creating an amazing experience where information can be shared, that the ripple affect will be sent out and people can then make informed, conscious decisions about the food they consume.  September 17 & 18th will be a weekend not to be missed and I hope that everyone is able to make it!

Vendor Booths, Site Tours, and loads of exploration happening throughout the weekend.  Camping at O.U.R. Ecovillage is also an option to remember but, is not included in the prices above.  Register for all talks, lunches, and dinner on O.U.R. website.
