Get busy this summer

Every year a number of people take on key roles at OUR Ecovillage helping the kitchen feed thousands of people, the builders educate hundreds and continue developing the infrastructure to support the programs, and the community and the administration to help run the site and host the thousands of visitors every year.

Here are a few roles seeking passionate people to fill them:

Site and events support

OUR Ecovillage is seeking service minded individuals to support the events team at OUR Ecovillage from immediately till the first week of October. You can come for the whole time, or a minimum of one week.

You will set-up and take down for some exciting events. You will be part of an inspiring and busy environment with opportunity to hang out with diverse and motivated people from across the spectrum of those working for a more sustainable society while expanding your personal capacity in whatever area you are working in. You can count on working hard and knowing that your contribution really counts. You will also experience a full immersion in the magic of sustainable community…

Volunteers cover the costs of their food and lodging which are monthly – $300 camping, $350 food (cooked with love by OUR team, almost all organic).

This could also be a full-time position with considerable responsibility if you are willing to commit to the whole summer. A modest stipend could be discussed.

Social Media and Outreach Intern (with Stipend)

*could be done from your own location, but preferably onsite at OUR ECOVILLAGE.

This position urgently needed for Social Media wiz and particularly someone with crowd-source abilities. We have all the background elements — just need someone with the time and talent. OUR goal is to raise monies with The Land Conservancy of BC through the Protect OUR Ecovillage Forever Campaign and the OUR Sustainers ….to ensure the continuation of this premiere Canadian Permaculture Sustainable Living Demonstration Site and Education Center for future generations. This includes the first North American Green Burial “Commemorative Conservation Scattering Grounds“. Position may include some trades for education programs, events,training. OUR site had 10K folks through last year alone and will be of great interest to the right person for the job.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for growing and engaging our community of interns, residents, donors, alumni and friends using social media and blog.

• Drive, respond and monitor engagement on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Blog)

• Develop and execute social media contests

• Create blog content

• Find, take and edit photos

• Do web analysis to optimize and determine the results of your efforts

• Other marketing and communication related tasks as required

Requirements:

• Be enrolled/graduated business degree preferably marketing or communications or similar experience.

• Be able to work independently and in a team.

• Have lots of energy and a “can do” attitude

• Experience in at least 2 of: blog writing, social media, market research, fundraising, web design, environmental activism

Bonus skills: Photoshop or equivalent design software experience, basic html knowledge, google analytics experience, CRM software (Salesforce, etc), WordPress

Logistics:

This position comes with a stipend and can include living costs at OUR Ecovillage.

This internship is 4-6 months in length (depending on the selected intern’s availability). A minimum time commitment of 3 days per week is required and preference is given to full time.
