The Jacksons are moving
A letter from Patrick and Marisa:
Dear friends, this note is to let you know that we will be leaving O.U.R. Ecovillage at the beginning of March. We will remain in the Cowichan and create a home within biking distance of our children’s school.
During the last five years, in our different ways, we have both had the incredible honor to stretch the limits of our personal capacity and become enriched by the wealth of experience, relationship and purpose that permeates the ground of O.U.R. Ecovillage and its people.
Our children have also touched and been touched by the lives of thousands of amazing and inspirational people and been blessed to grow and play on this magical land.
Many people have given their sweat and love to support us and help create a sustainable life here, particularly with the building of the Econest that was planned as our home. We deeply honor the impact – or even challenge – that our choice may create for some and we are profoundly grateful for the contributions that have enriched our journey.
The decision we have arrived at feels strongly right for us and we hope it will serve this community. The answer to “why are you leaving?” is more than can be covered adequately in this short note, particularly as it goes deep into the personal work of both of us. Please email or call us if you would like to know more.
Like the ashes of Patrick’s mother that nourish the roots of a cedar at the edge of the housing cluster, our connection here will not disappear. The people and place and the dream that sustains it have become part of us, and part of us stays here.
With deep gratitude to Brandy, Trent and Freya, all the people who came before us, the people on the land now, and all those who will come,
in love, Patrick and Marisa.
