Photo of the Week: Seed Saving
Seed saving is one of the ways OUR Ecovillage (and everyone else who grows food) can be more self-sufficient. Here, a pile of kale gone to seed is drying in preparation for long term storage over the winter. Storing your own seeds allows you to pick from the best-producing stock and also to select your family or farm’s favourite varieties. Properly stored seed will survive for two or three years, and saved seed allows for a perpetual food supply year after year.
