Celebrations and Great Plans
By Elke Cole
Thanksgiving is one of many beautiful celebrations in our annual cycle.
Yes, there’s good food and good feelings at these milestones; and there’s an opportunity to reflect on our achievements and our learning.
When I came upon the picture of the wheelbarrow race I looked back at all the natural building groups we have hosted at OUR Ecovillage. Programs ranging from 2 days to 6 months have introduced hundreds to the basics of natural building. I’d like to put out a call to past participants and invite you to send some highlights of your time here. Write it, film it, send pictures of where you’ve taken it. Please send your input to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will be celebrating 20 years OUR next year and I’d like to create a review of our building programs for us all to remember.
With the coming of fall and winter we go into planning mode. As you think about your next moves you may consider participating in a cross-cultural Permaculture practicum that will take place in Kenya next year. This practicum is open to past participants of OUR PDC , past natural building interns who learned with Elke and past interns of Brandon Bauer. A full description of this program will be published shortly. Facilitators will be Brandon Bauer (food forest development) , Elke Cole (natural building and stoves) and we are all going to be hosted by Jescar Mbuche and Emmanuel Karisa Baya at Magarini Children’s center.
Stay tuned and keep your eyes on this newsletter next month for more details.
