The Peace Education Program is an innovative series of video-based workshops which helps people to discover their own inner resources and personal peace. It provides the opportunity for people to focus and reflect on their own humanity and empowers individuals to reach their own understanding.

This free 10 week course will be offered via Zoom.

The Peace Education Program is about discovering you:

– time to reflect on the theme and engage in activities

– time to respond to them from one’s own understanding

– there are no right or wrong answers

– there are no tests

The Peace Education Program is an innovative series of video-based workshops which helps people to discover their own inner resources and personal peace. It provides the opportunity for people to focus and reflect on their own humanity and empowers individuals to reach their own understanding.

The Peace Education Program has proven effective in a variety of settings including community centers, youth groups, schools, adult education programs, veterans’ groups, healthcare settings, senior centers, homeless shelters, drug rehabilitation facilities and correctional facilities. Access to the course materials is provided to organizations and volunteers by The Prem Rawat Foundation free of charge to organizations and volunteers and the program is readily available to diverse populations in more than 70 countries and in over 30 languages.

The program focuses on 10 themes: Peace, Appreciation, Inner Strength, Self-Awareness, Clarity, Understanding, Dignity, Choice, Hope and Contentment. Each workshop consists of videos and animated stories drawn from Prem Rawat’s international talks, media interviews and insights from speaking to people around the world for over 50 years.

What is the Prem Rawat Foundation?

The Prem Rawat Foundation (TPRF) is a nonprofit public foundation created in 2001. TPRF advances dignity, peace and prosperity by addressing the fundamental human needs of food, water and peace. The Foundation is building a more peaceful world, one person at a time.

Who is Prem Rawat?

Inspired by his vision of helping people discover and practice peace, Prem Rawat has traveled across the world for over 50 years speaking to audiences large and small in over 100 countries. He speaks to audiences from all walks of life, from intimate gatherings of inmates at correctional facilities to forums with world leaders as well as vast public crowds.

In 2012 he developed the Peace Education Program in collaboration with The Prem Rawat Foundation.

What are the objectives of the Peace Education Program?

The objectives of the Peace Education Program are for participants to:

  1. Understand the possibility of personal peace
  2. Become aware of their inner resources such as: clarity, hope, and choice
  3. Recognize their innate value

What is the minimum age for the Peace Education Program?

The Peace Education Program workshops are designed for adults. A course for 14-18-year-olds is currently being piloted and is expected to be released in late 2021.

What kind of experience or training does a Peace Education Program Facilitator require?

The role of the facilitator requires no professional qualifications. The facilitator ensures the smooth running of each session, encourages a process of self-discovery, and supports student learning. The facilitator needs to be neutral about religious, political, and spiritual beliefs and not promote any of their own.

A team of at least two people is recommended for conducting the workshops.

TPRF is available to provide any support needed to make the course a success for host organizations and participants alike.

“Assessment of Peace Education Program in Correctional Facilities Across  Four Continents” 

In April 2020, Donald Sheppard from ACE Insights, New Zealand completed an Impact Assessment of the Peace Education Program, facilitated in Correctional Facilities across four continents and in seven countries. The study found that the program is “having a very positive effect on participants,” resulting in attitudinal improvements such as empowerment and a willingness to change, and behavioral improvements such as better anger management and reduced fighting.

“Johannesburg Department of Social Development Evaluates Peace Education Program for Homeless”

In August of 2020 the Johannesburg Department of Social Development studied the results of the Peace Education Program on houseless people in shelters, finding that it helped over 95%  of participants with benefits including enhanced self-awareness, tolerance, love, inner peace, contentment and self-reliance. The Department designated the Peace Education Program as one of the essential services needed to help these people cope with the COVID-19 crisis.
