About O.U.R. Ecovillage
O.U.R. ECOVILLAGE (Shawnigan Lake, BC Canada),is a 25 acre “Sustainable Living Demonstration Site and Education Center” where you have the opportunity to enjoy guided tours and view ecological design structures built with everything from cob, straw bale, rammed earth, living roofs, rainwater harvesting, grey/black water recycling, alternative energy, and many other innovative design features. Elke Cole is one of Canada’s first cob builders. She brings rich experience of building and teaching on 4 continents. As architectural designer and natural builder she has played a key role in the development of O.U.R. Ecovillage. Find out more about Elke on her website.

Gord Baird is one half of the Eco-Sense home co-created with his partner Ann eight years ago. Their project has achieved international attention for the sustainability initiatives they have done in earthen building including Petal Recognition for the Living Building Challenge. They have done ground-breaking research and helped change policy. Gord’s book on composting toilets will be is published later this year.
Gord is one of the leading experts working with OUR team on ‘Closing the loop on healthy and affordable housing’.
