Gaia Education 1st Training of Trainers (TOT) programme in Canada is coming to OUR Ecovillage in 2018!

OUR partnership with Gaia Education is extending to the next level! After offering Ecovillage Design Education Certificate (EDE) for 2 years, we have been invited to be the organizer and venue for the first Training of Trainers (TOT) programme in North America. International educator May East and Giovanni Ciarlo from Gaia Education will be leading this 6-day training programme. This is a great training opportunity for sustainable development educators and facilitators in North American who want to deepen experience in how to teach, facilitate and train people by enabling collaboration and participation among a community of learners. Upon completion of the programme, participants will be qualified as Gaia Education certified facilitators and trainers. For more information and registration, go to OUR website Trainer of Trainers.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2 Days Training – Negotiating Tensions between Global and Local

Facilitated by International educator May East and Giovanni Ciarlo from Gaia Education, this training will teach edge workers and facilitators how to navigate the tension between the global and the local in language, ethics and implementation. It will support participants to decode relevant UN conventions into meaningful frameworks for transformative action at the local level. Topics include: SDGs vertical integration, UNESCO Global Action Programme Priorities Areas, as well as, how to translate global Climate Agreements into action and behaviour and lifestyle changes. This 2-day training is part of the Training of Trainers (TOT) programme. For training contents and registration, please visit OUR website.

Where are we heading next?

Our education team has been evaluating our internship, apprenticeship and education programs lately. We notice that the trend in natural building courses is now shifted to cater for contractors and homeowners in the industry, and permaculture courses are blooming on the internet. We have been searching out OUR new direction in order to ensure OUR work serves to nurture a new generation of village-building ambassadors and response-able change-makers for a regenerative future. Also stay tuned for updates on our new venture into live-streaming and webinars! If you have specific feedback please get a hold of Gracelynn through

DID YOU KNOW…..that we have had the most amazing year of volunteers and apprentices coming through with a huge diversity in cultures and languages! It has been one of the most outstanding awarenesses from this year – folks travelling from far and wide really value and appreciate their experience here. As visitors, their respect, contribution, and caring for what they put their hand to has been a shining light on how the worldwide pursuit of living and working together may well be hopeful and even possible. It is so challenging to combine the aspects of work/home (as any home-based business owner!)…..and now combine hundreds of people!
