Lisa gets to meet her superhero

I just finished a phone call with Dr. Don M Huber who has been leading the glyphosate research, namely the effects of Roundup Ready Seeds on animal miscarriges, plant health, soil health… people health. I have been patiently waiting for this call since friday, when he wrote me back to say that he would be available to come here, to OUR Ecovillage and speak at the 2011 Cowichan Valley Wine & Culinary Festival in September.

I decided to wait to publicly announce it, because of the concerns that came up for me surrounding anyone who would stand up before Monsanto and threaten it’s empire corporate integrity. And today, with much anticipation I was able to hear his voice, honesty and sincerity.

I was shocked at how incredibly grounded and reassuring he is considering the amount of attention he has received. He addressed all of my concerns not by addressing the possible conspiracies underlying the food security game, but by bringing me back to the fact that his integrity as a scientist, his ability to stand up in the face of such controversy and scrutiny by the scientific community depends on the honesty of the interpretation and reporting of the information they have on hand. He continued by saying simply that he is using the same scientific analysis on his work that he has on work that he has peer reviewed. Of course this doesn’t mean that things don’t change or information isn’t updated, but, you do the best you can.

You do the best you can.

Dr. Huber will be the keynote speaker for the 2011 Cowichan Wine & Culinary Festival at OUR Ecovillage September 17 – 18, 2011. He will be doing an extensive presentation on the his latest work which will include addressing questions from the public and media. I am also organizing a speaking tour for him that will last approximately 4 days. Please contact me if you are interested in having him speak with your organization.
