Having rounded the equinox and feeling the chill in the air….OUR team is finally surrendering to the fall season and BIG changes!  We have moved through perhaps 3 of the most challenging seasons on the land since spring 1999 – and yet in terms of positive change it has also heralded in times of abundance (from bumper apple crops to lots of TLC for caring for the spaces/places we don’t get to so often given serving 10K learner connections per year).  We are feeling the deep need for working through the emergency response of the last 3 seasons and look at all the consequences for OUR future.  As we understand what might be needed from OUR team for next wave, next emergency, and next climate impact/weather response/mitigation this season.  Much like the rest of the world OUR team is feeling the fatigue from navigating the emotional/mental/financial/operational challenges which have been rippling through OUR onsite/wider community relations – “these are the best of times….these are the worst of times” (and perhaps we have each seen that in our/OUR own reactions and planning skills!).  Clearly it is time to tuck down for the Winter!!!  OUR community, which includes YOU!, is now needing to turn into an inner awareness, work on our immune systems (literally and metaphorically), take time to plan and vision how to move forward into the next “Certainly Uncertain Time”.

If you might be interested in working with OUR Coop to envision how OUR ECOVILLAGE’s next steps might pivot OUR purpose and how to serve the wider community (and take care of OUR onsite community!) within the unknowns of the next years ahead…..then please contact us at info@ourecovillage.org   *please put VISIONING 2021+   in your subject line.

**We are also reaching out to say that we are very much looking forward to connecting with those who;  have some carpentry skills to contribute as we work on new food systems infrastructure, are interested in working on public art installation processes with ‘Awakening the Dragon’, have canning jars to share/return, or generally are interested in coming to the farm for a visit and warm cup of tea!!   info@ourecovillage.org

Land acknowledgment

OUR ECOVILLAGE is situated on unceded Indigenous lands. The Coast Salish Peoples are the guardians of these lands and waters where we live, work, pray, and play. Quw’utsun (Cowichan) is a historical place of gathering and Na’tsa’ maht Shqwaluwun/”one-heart one-mind” for many Indigenous peoples.

OUR ECOVILLAGE is committed to regenerate land and all ecosystems while acknowledging and respecting Indigenous knowledge that ensures thriving for all beings; we call this Permaculture.

OUR ECOVILLAGE is dedicated to continuously educating ourselves and our communities about the history and peoples of OUR bio-region, to assist in decolonization and re-villaging as a path towards peacemaking, from local to global.
