Movie Monday: Rob Hopkins introduces Transition Towns
Have you ever heard of the Transition Town movement? Perhaps you have already checked out Transition Victoria? Maybe you are part of a Transition Town movement in your own part of the world?
I had the privilege of being at the Transition Town Training in Victoria a couple of years ago, which was one of the first defined groups of people that I have ever consorted who talked about peak oil, climate change and the great turning together. Little did I know, there were people like Joanna Macey and many other communities, like O.U.R. Ecovillage who were making this work central to their decision making process!
Of course now, even mainstream media seems to be verging on putting these obvious puzzle pieces together, but at that point, I was so uplifted and overjoyed that there were people out there who got me! Rob Hopkins, the creator of the Transition Town Movement, and author of The Transition Handbook: From Oil Dependency to Local Resilience talks about the my process as if he was in my head, bringing climate change, peak oil and the great turning together and inspiring us to use the power of the edge to create resilience. So, pull up a stump, grab a cup of tea and enjoy!
