The Work – A Day of Mindful Inquiry

“What we are doing with inquiry is meeting our thoughts with some simple understanding, finally. Pain, anger, and frustration will let us know when it’s time to inquire. We either believe what we think or we question it: there’s no other choice. Questioning our thoughts is the kinder way. Inquiry always leaves us as more loving human beings.” ― Byron Katie, I Need Your Love – Is That True?

You’re invited to join Kathy White, Certified Facilitator of The Work,  at Vancouver Island’s OUR Ecovillage for one day of mindful inquiry.

You will learn to identify and question the limiting beliefs that keep you stuck, lower your confidence, create conflict with others and leave you feeling at odds with the world. Using this simple yet radical process, you can set yourself free to live an inspired and peaceful life.

You will spend time practicing inquiry using The Work, deepening into mindfulness meditation. By investigating the stories you have been telling yourself about life as you open up a space for your own realizations and wake up to a kinder reality and a clearer mind.

This workshop is an opportunity to practice The Work with the freedom of “beginner’s mind,” no matter what your level of experience is.

The Work of Byron Katie is a simple yet powerful process of inquiry that teaches you to identify and question the thoughts that cause all your suffering. It’s a way to understand what’s hurting you, and to address the cause of your problems with clarity. In its most basic form, The Work consists of four questions and the turnarounds. Turnarounds are a  way of experiencing the opposite of what you believe. And so The Work can allow your mind to return to its true, awakened, peaceful, creative nature.

Byron Katie, a business woman from California “woke up” in 1986 after years of suffering from depression, self loathing and  constant thoughts of suicide. Her life changing realization was the discovery that when she believed her thoughts she suffered and when she didn’t believe them she didn’t suffer, and that this is true for every human being. She found that suffering is optional. She found a joy in herself that has never disappeared, and  has been sharing The Work with people all over the world ever since. She says “this joy is available to everyone.”
