Welcome Back Elke!

Welcome Back Elke!

Posted on: February 2, 2011

Hi everyone!
Coming from a three month stint in Africa back to the wintery home at the Ecovillage, it’s a bit hard to believe that the building and teaching season is just around the corner! However, February is here and there are a few buildings in the planning stage at this time and others waiting to be finished.

Freya’s house is ready for windows, doors, plaster and floors. The Art Studio’s Bathhouse (started by last seasons skillbuilders) will receive its living roof and natural plasters. O.U.R. Eatery is on Liuba’s virtual drawing board and more houses are to be built as our community grows.

On the Natural Building School front, we are now taking applications for the building team: prospective Continuing Natural Building interns and 8th season of Natural Building Skillbuilders, which has been broken down into a NB Skillbuilders In Community cohort and a NB Skillbuilders Weekend Intensive cohort. Descriptions for different possibilities are on the website- let me just point out a few key points.

  • If you have taken an apprenticeship or equivalent with another Natural Building
organization or business you may be eligible for the continuing internship
  • Continuing interns are full time members of the building team- not to be confuse with a training program. Each internship may be individually laid out and look differently according to your experience, interest, and O.U.R. project needs.
  • If you are a builder or in a training program for conventional construction our 7 month “weekend” Skillbuilder will add Natural Building into your existing skill-set
  • The intensive Natural Building Skillbuilder in Community is for those who come from far away, those who want to make their annual holiday a learning stay focused on Natural Building or future owner builders who wish to receive an introduction to natural building techniques

Please email your applications and/or questions and I will get back to you.

We will start interviewing around February 15 and confirm participants by March 15.

I look forward to hearing from you!
In community,
Elke Cole
