This Saturday, the land comes alive with fiddle, step dance, and guitar.
On March 28, OUR Ecovillage hosts an evening with Pierre Schryer, Danielle Enblom, and Adam Dobres — a trio that brings together Franco-Ontarian fiddling, traditional step dance, and guitar in a performance that’s been described as “a tour de force of versatility, fine musicianship, and technical dexterity.”
Pierre Schryer is one of Canada’s most celebrated fiddlers, with JUNO nominations and Canadian Folk Music Awards to his name. Danielle Enblom’s step dancing brings the tradition into the body — grounded, precise, alive. Adam Dobres holds it all together on guitar, with a Diploma in Traditional Irish Music from University College Cork. Together they span the breadth of the Canadian and Celtic traditions without ever losing the thread.
The concert is at OUR Ecovillage’s hall at 1565 Baldy Mountain Road, Shawnigan Lake. If you want to make a full evening of it, arrive early for dinner — a Zero Mile Eatery Curry Farm Feast Buffet with vegan and gluten-free options, starting at 5:30pm.
There is something right about music like this finding its way to land like this. OUR Ecovillage was built on the belief that community is made in shared presence — around tables, in workshops, on the land. An evening of fiddle and step dance is, in its own way, the same thing. Come and be part of it.
