These days they are a changing…” (certainly a song which is playing repeatedly in my mind these days) —  and so is OUR team!  This year has been a year of letting go of so much.  OUR general Newsletter is arriving to you here in this form, which we will do once per month,  with not only OUR full Newsletter but also the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Newsletter.  This is meant to bring in the 10K friends who are in OUR connection Circles to the weekly focus OUR team is mostly working on — deepening OUR relationship with community building/education/food production farming!

When describing what has changed onsite in OUR world – we must say that it is very strange for us to not have large groupings of the 10K learners onsite!  We have ‘tanked’ 100% of courses (and all finances!) and are in the midst of a new Pilot Project/Internship titled “AWAKEN; Designing for Resilient Community and Deep Adaptation”.  With ‘on-land and on-line’ participants…..each of the original 31 participants have began a next step in the journey towards On-Boarding Into Cooperative Culture.  This is a Pilot for International contribution of a template for Ecovillages and intentional Communities (or any group dynamic) as we see the world struggle with working cooperatively – particularly in situations where living/working happens together with groups of humans!  This pilot has been held by the Cowichan Nation Elder(s) ,and other of OUR Elders, in a gentle embrace of support, and the Sacred, as we each journey through weekly curriculum of deconstructing our personal/collective deep adaptation relating to: resiliency, trauma, learning, relatedness to the wild and domestic farming, family, racism, well-ness, power dramas, and local connection to global relationshipping, and re-villaging (urban and rural ways of re-connecting that is not necessarily residency specific!).

With all this said – we are mostly working this year from a place of ‘community contribution’.  We are working closely with a global consortium of educators and leaders in different movements – this is a deep listening process and  is asking ‘what is needed on a planetary era level now’.  OUR team is on daily calls with leadership which is working on ‘pivoting’ educational models, immersed learning environments when we can not necessarily be ‘on-land’ with as many folks as we wish to work elbow to elbow with, and how to support Reconciliation in so many ways.  If you would like to talk with us and the wider ecosystem of folks working together please let me know directly info@ourecovillage.org and put the words ECOSYSTEM EDUCATION in the subject line!

Land acknowledgment

OUR ECOVILLAGE is situated on unceded Indigenous lands. The Coast Salish Peoples are the guardians of these lands and waters where we live, work, pray, and play. Quw’utsun (Cowichan) is a historical place of gathering and Na’tsa’ maht Shqwaluwun/”one-heart one-mind” for many Indigenous peoples.

OUR ECOVILLAGE is committed to regenerate land and all ecosystems while acknowledging and respecting Indigenous knowledge that ensures thriving for all beings; we call this Permaculture.

OUR ECOVILLAGE is dedicated to continuously educating ourselves and our communities about the history and peoples of OUR bio-region, to assist in decolonization and re-villaging as a path towards peacemaking, from local to global.
