ReVILLAGing Family Camp

Child Honouring, Future Ancestors, and Regenerative Living

“How can we ‘go Village’ if we don’t make space for our children and families to learn regenerative practices and permaculture design thinking — together?”

At OUR Ecovillage, we hold this question at the heart of our work.
Our answer is simple:
We build the Village that includes everyone — from our Little Permies, Youth, to our Elders/Olders — honouring each as vital stewards of the future.

The ReVillaging Family Camp is a two-week, intergenerational, living-learning journey designed for family groups who are ready to grow together — rooted in principles of Child Honouring, Future Ancestor stewardship, and regenerative design.

What is the ReVillaging Family Camp?

This is not just a camp.
It is an immersive experience in rebuilding the Village — where multiple generations live, learn, and design side by side.

Over the two weeks, families will:

  • Learn regenerative skills and permaculture design thinking together

  • Engage in Peacemaking (Indigenous) and Restorative Justice practices that nurture respectful, inclusive community building

  • Ground learning in Child Honouring principles, where the wellbeing of children is central to all that we do

  • Explore kincentric worldviews, deepening relationships with land, water, and ‘other-than-human’ relatives

We journey together — engaging in the same core topics, practical tools, and eco-design frameworks, each adapted to age, abilities, and interests.

How the Camp Works

  • Daily Program:
Each day blends core permaculture learning with restorative activities focused on relationship-building, empathy, and collaborative governance.

  • Functional Work/Play stations:
Interactive stations allow for hands-on exploration — from gardening and natural building to storytelling, eco-crafting, and water system design — supporting various skills, interests, and ages.

  • Rhythm of the Day:

    • Active morning Gathering circle with whole Village – then Family Camp off to ‘sit spot’ area

    • Morning care of animals and hands-on / land-based learning activities
    • Midday project time and quiet downtime for younger learners

    • Afternoon skills practice across intergenerational groups

    • evening sessions for adults and teens to deepen their design research, discussion, and and guest knowledge sharing/panel circles etc.

  • Design Groups:
Adult learners and interested youth will work in small design teams, applying regenerative frameworks to real-world projects, culminating in a final permaculture design presentation.

  • Community ReVillaging Living:
Shared meals, music, storytelling, feasts, and ceremony weave the social fabric that makes the village real.

Child Honouring and Future Ancestors: Why It Matters

We are not just teaching children & Youth
We are raising Future Ancestors.

  • Child Honouring means recognizing that the wellbeing of children is the true foundation of a healthy society — and centering their voices, needs, and gifts in all we do.

  • Future Ancestors thinking calls us to act with responsibility to the children’s children’s children — designing systems, communities, and cultures that will nourish them long after we are gone.

By walking the learning journey with our children and Elders, we grow the relational roots needed for resilient communities and ecosystems.

At ReVillaging Family Camp, learning is not something we do to our children — it is something we do with them.

Land acknowledgment

OUR ECOVILLAGE is situated on unceded Indigenous lands. The Coast Salish Peoples are the guardians of these lands and waters where we live, work, pray, and play. Quw’utsun (Cowichan) is a historical place of gathering and Na’tsa’ maht Shqwaluwun/”one-heart one-mind” for many Indigenous peoples.

OUR ECOVILLAGE is committed to regenerate land and all ecosystems while acknowledging and respecting Indigenous knowledge that ensures thriving for all beings; we call this Permaculture.

OUR ECOVILLAGE is dedicated to continuously educating ourselves and our communities about the history and peoples of OUR bio-region, to assist in decolonization and re-villaging as a path towards peacemaking, from local to global.
